Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established protocols for specimen collection, management, and analysis, ensuring accurate reporting and record-keeping of test outcomes.
- Implement quality assurance measures as per laboratory standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality control activities, including instrument calibrations and maintenance procedures.
- Recognize and address factors that may affect test accuracy, taking corrective actions or informing the Lab Supervisor as necessary.
- Manage the ordering, receipt, and distribution of laboratory supplies within the lab and treatment areas.
- Familiarize yourself with all operational checklists and perform all associated tasks competently.
- Comply with safety regulations as outlined by Patient First and relevant health authorities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere in all interactions.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a professional work environment.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficient keyboarding skills are essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities are necessary.
- One year of clerical experience is preferred.
- One year of clinical experience is advantageous.
- A minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including coursework in chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in a related field.
- Completion of clinical rotations in microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology is required, or completion of a military Medical Laboratory Procedures course with qualifications for military medical laboratory roles.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (M.T.) or Medical Laboratory Technician (M.L.T.) by a recognized professional body is preferred, though registry-eligible candidates are encouraged to apply.
