POSITION: Culinary Team Member
DEPARTMENT: Kitchen
REPORTS TO: Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, Banquet Chef
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY: The Culinary Team Member is responsible for managing a designated area of food preparation within the kitchen. Specific stations may include sauté, grill, pantry, and expo. Duties include organizing items for the workstation based on established guidelines and preparing assigned products during service. This job description is subject to change without prior notice.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare and cook ingredients according to established recipes.
  • Implement portion control and minimize waste to maintain budgetary goals.
  • Ensure timely preparation of dishes by restocking ingredients and adhering to prep timelines for efficient service.
  • Set up and maintain cleanliness of the workstation in accordance with club standards.
  • Keep the workstation, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves, clean and organized.
  • Adhere to health, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Verify the quality and freshness of ingredients and finished products.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the line supervisor, sous-chef, or executive chef.
  • Possess a working knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Foster a positive and friendly atmosphere among staff and club members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform various physical activities such as walking, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, stretching, and reaching.
  • Work in environments that may be hot, humid, and noisy.
  • Regularly lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain excellent physical fitness, visual acuity, and sense of smell for safe kitchen operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, with a maximum of 40 hours per week.
  • Knowledge of basic culinary principles.
  • Ability to take precautions to prevent burns from hot oil and grease, and familiarity with first aid for such injuries.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures relevant to the kitchen environment.
  • Minimum of three months of related experience or training.
  • Familiarity with all kitchen equipment and machinery.
  • Food safety certification is required.
  • Experience in high-volume cooking is preferred.
  • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary, as public transportation is not available.
