Position: Micro Injection Molding Technician

Reporting To: Production Supervisor

Classification: Non-exempt

Position Summary: This role is essential for overseeing the production of precision plastic components that fulfill or surpass customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead by example while guiding and training new team members.
  2. Utilize the most effective processing techniques for manufacturing within the specifications and constraints of the components.
  3. Enhance production efficiency by leveraging knowledge of product design, material processes, production capabilities, and quality assurance standards.
  4. Establish and uphold processing parameters for molds utilized in micro injection molding across all shifts.
  5. Document mold performance for the tool room, quality assurance, and production supervisor.
  6. Diagnose issues systematically and perform minor maintenance on molds and machinery. Provide recommendations and solutions to achieve desired outcomes for the company and its clients.
  7. Communicate production challenges with management and participate in relevant meetings to address customer complaints, production concerns, and design issues that may hinder the efficient use of machinery and tools.
  8. Achieve mastery of additional training required to operate equipment in the designated area.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Experience or training in manufacturing with quality systems is preferred. Proficiency in using measuring and inspection tools to ensure quality standards.
  2. Computer Skills: Basic keyboarding skills are necessary.
  3. Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize instructions and brief correspondence with colleagues and supervisors. Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  4. Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and capable of interpreting specification drawings for inspection purposes.
  5. Reasoning Ability: Ability to resolve practical problems and manage various concrete variables. Capable of following simple verbal instructions.
  6. Other Skills and Abilities: Willingness to attend training sessions to enhance and update skills. May occasionally be required to travel for company-related activities. Availability for overtime as production demands dictate.
  7. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
  8. Physical Demands: This position requires frequent sitting/standing and the use of hands to manipulate small components. Good vision, including color vision and close vision, is necessary. May need to lift or transport items weighing up to 55 lbs.
  9. Work Environment: The role is performed in a climate-controlled setting with minimal temperature or humidity fluctuations. Noise levels may vary from low to moderate depending on the work area. Safety glasses are mandatory.
