Job Overview

The Department of Transportation is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineering Technician to support our geophysical and engineering geology studies. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in field mapping, geophysical studies, equipment maintenance, and calibration. You will also implement solutions for technical testing problems and work independently or as part of a team to conduct field testing.

About the Job

This position is located in Sacramento, California, and requires travel to remote locations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. You will work under the direction of a Senior Engineering Geologist or Engineering Geologist and receive general instructions for each assignment, with detailed instructions provided as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in field mapping and geophysical studies
  • Maintain and calibrate geophysical equipment
  • Implement solutions for technical testing problems
  • Conduct field testing independently or as part of a team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., transportation engineering, geology)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
