We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Buildings team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing mechanical designs in support of various buildings design projects. Your responsibilities will include leading the planning, design, and commissioning of building HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, whole building energy modeling, and building sustainability requirements reporting. You will also coordinate with other support disciplines and regional offices, assist project managers with project management, and follow quality assurance and quality control plans. Periodic travel to project sites will be required.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will mentor and train technical staff, interface with clients on project design, delivery, and construction, manage project budget and schedule compliance, and oversee the mechanical design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle. You will utilize BIM design software to produce construction drawings and Microsoft Excel based calculation tools for design calculations. You will also manage multiple assignments concurrently, be responsible for time management and product quality, follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans, and be responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team.

To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET accredited university or college, have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, and have 5-10 years of building design and construction industry experience. You must have a knowledge base of mechanical engineering principles related to building mechanical designs, proven experience overseeing mechanical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects, and technical competence in building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You must also have strong communication skills, experience with Autodesk Revit, and proficiency with MS Office Suite. Additionally, it is preferred that you are a Licensed Professional Engineer, have experience with AIA MasterSpec, and have knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria.
