Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 10 years of experience in the building design consulting industry to lead projects as a project manager or lead engineer for the delivery of large and highly complex projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, with strong leadership skills and ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Provide technical training and mentoring, and provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with minimal support from senior staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work, and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.

Requirements:

  • Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
  • Mastery of technical and analytical skills, including proficiency in principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Strong training, mentoring, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to perform final quality control checks in their area of expertise.
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred, but not required.
  • 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.
