Histotechnologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in preparing and processing surgical specimens for examination by pathologists.

• Prepare gross surgical specimens for Pathology Assistant or Pathologist.
• Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing specimens and slides.
• Investigate and document problems with unacceptable specimens.
• Follow established guidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent or specimen problems.
• Comply with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety.
• Participate in staff meetings and help promote effective working relationships.

Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program within the last five years. Completion of NAACLS accredited program waived with current HTL(ASCP). Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), AND one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory. Three years of Histology experience preferred. ASCP certification preferred.
