Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

This is an on-the-job training role designed for Imaging team members who are pursuing a specialty within one of five modalities: CT, MR, US, NM, or Angio. The position is responsible for performing high-quality procedures using independent decision-making and problem-solving skills to obtain the best possible images.

Job Details
  • Sign on Bonus: $2500.00 for Tech in training or $5000.00 for eligible certified applicants
  • Shift: Full-time, 40 hrs/wk.
  • Location: Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah

The incumbent will become proficient in all aspects of patient care and the use of ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. The position requires a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  • Assists in proper contrast administration.
  • Positions patients effectively for scans, using sound knowledge of physiology and anatomy.
  • Performs exams using consistent department protocols and transmits all pertinent data through appropriate systems for radiologist review.
  • Proactively assesses images and makes adjustments, as needed, to deliver quality scans for proper patient diagnosis.
  • Performs routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of imaging equipment and makes adjustments for patient size, age, and condition.
  • Recognizes equipment failures and adjusts or reports concerns as needed.
  • Participates in department assignments such as maintaining department stock, quality improvement activities, and cleaning work areas.
  • Demonstrates effective radiation and pathogenetic protection for patient, as well as self.
  • Follows department protocols for medical necessity, obtaining consents for invasive procedures, coding and charging, and documenting any events that may occur.
  • Actively pursues learning new procedures or advancements in specialty area.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of formal RT training from an ARRT-approved school.
  • BLS Certification for healthcare providers.
  • Current State of Utah License.
  • ARRT License and a current State of Utah Radiology Tech License.
  • or Eligible to take the applicable CT registry.
