Cranial Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider

Join our team of pioneering physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APP) as a part of the Cranial Neurosurgery Program at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. This innovative program offers state-of-the-art operating rooms and technology, providing a unique opportunity to serve patients with intracranial hemorrhages and masses.
Key Responsibilities
As a Cranial Neurosurgery APP, you will function as a member of the department, providing inpatient care, outpatient clinic, and OR services. Your duties will include:
Performing thorough neurologic examinations
Rounding and managing inpatient consults, pre- and post-operative cranial neurosurgery patients
Providing comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments
Assisting with pre-admission and explaining procedures to patients
First- or second-assisting in the operating room on cranial neurosurgery cases
Participating in outpatient-based clinic for new consults and post-surgical patients
Formulating individualized medical-surgical treatment plans in a shared-decision making model and facilitating discharge care
Providing patient education, motivation, respect, and empathy to the highest standard
Working within a multi-disciplinary team as a resource and consultant
Attending and participating in department meetings and case conferences
Identifying opportunities for and implementing program growth initiatives
Positively contributing to safety outcomes, quality initiatives, and promoting high-quality patient experiences
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Advanced Practice Provider licensure (PA-C or APN-CNP) in the State of Illinois
Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License
Completion of an accredited program from either a Masters level Physician Assistant Program or an Advanced Practice Nurse Graduate/Doctoral Level Nursing Program (APRN RNFA required for Cranial Neurosurgery)
BLS/CPR certification and ACLS certification
Prior Advanced Practice Provider experience in an acute care hospital setting, neurosurgery, neurology, or surgical services preferred but not required
