Job Summary

We're seeking a Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for leading projects from start to finish, coordinating with clients, project managers, and other team members. Your expertise in designing high-reliability mechanical systems will be invaluable in delivering technically excellent design solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and manage a team of mechanical engineers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality construction documents and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate the work of mechanical engineers, EITs, and BIM specialists with the balance of a multidisciplinary team throughout the project's development.
  • Develop feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and perform RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation, and overall construction administration.
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding mechanical systems.
  • Assist marketing and business development groups in developing fee proposals and scope of work documents for HVAC and plumbing scopes of work.
  • Assume the mechanical lead on data center/mission critical projects, working with clients to understand their project-specific requirements.
  • Provide detailed design and coordination with multidisciplinary team members, attending and leading design meetings, and conducting schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions.
  • Perform QA/QC review of construction documents, specifications, and technical reports, and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Design support during construction, including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, and Request for Information (RFI) support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of consulting engineering experience in the design of high-reliability mechanical systems.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination, and project management experience.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Data Center/Mission Critical experience in an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • Strong desire to stay current with industry trends.
  • Working knowledge of Uptime Topology standards, ASHRAE TC 9.9, ASHRAE 90.4, and ISO standards regarding PUE, CUE, and WUE.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, AFT Fathom, a HVAC loads program, and Microsoft Office.
  • General knowledge of inputs required for CFD modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Newforma Project Center and/or ProjectWise Document Management Software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strongly motivated and showing professional initiative.
  • Focused on client outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of current industry codes and standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical and specification writing skills.
  • NCEES Registration.
