Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Special Education team at Beaufort County School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional services to help students overcome or compensate for deficiencies in occupational performance areas and gain optimum benefit from district special services programming.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluation and Assessment: Evaluate referred students by assessing range of motion, muscle strength, tone and sensory systems, fine motor skills, self-help skills, oral-motor skills and visual-perceptual skills as indicated.
  • Therapy Planning and Implementation: Plan and direct education activities to help mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled students become self-sufficient in the classroom.
  • IEP Team Participation: Participate in IEP team meetings as a member to develop goals and objectives and provide progress reports as needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document services and provide information for Medicaid billing.
  • Professional Development: Participate in district-sponsored training and networking meetings to further develop programs at individual sites.
Requirements
  • Education: BA or MA degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program as determined by the Superintendent.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed and/or eligible for licensure from the South Carolina board of Occupational Therapist Examiners.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist.
