Responsibilities of the Role:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Operations Manager oversees, coordinates, directs, and assesses the performance of the nursing and medical assistant staff at Outer Cape Health Services. As the clinical leader, this role is pivotal in ensuring quality and efficient patient outcomes. The Nursing Operations Manager acts as the primary clinical resource for staff and is responsible for fostering an environment that supports patient-centered, team-based care. Additionally, this position entails implementing and upholding established OCHS policies and procedures while fulfilling assigned administrative responsibilities.

Key Duties Include:

  • Collaborating with the Lead Medical Assistant to manage staffing levels, ensuring the development and communication of RN and MA schedules.
  • Coordinating training and orientation for new RN and MA staff, forwarding completed documentation to Human Resources.
  • Overseeing necessary clinical employee training, including CLIA and OSHA compliance.
  • Working with provider leadership and the Health Center Director to address conflicts.
  • Monitoring Patient Experience ratings and collaborating with providers to address patient concerns.
  • Developing and revising effective workflows and procedures in collaboration with team members.
  • Facilitating on-site process improvements with frontline staff.
  • Identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
  • Leading regular staff meetings for RN and MA personnel.
  • Coordinating the ordering of clinical supplies and maintaining documentation to minimize waste.
  • Serving as the Vaccine Coordinator, ensuring staff are up-to-date with immunization protocols.
  • Conducting performance evaluations for MA and RN staff, including formal reviews and informal coaching.
  • Assisting in the development of performance improvement plans in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • Collecting data and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Administering consistent and fair discipline to staff, holding them accountable for compliance with OCHS policies.
  • Ensuring annual competency assessments for RNs and MAs are completed and documented.
  • Modeling and supporting the principles of patient-centered, team-based care.
  • Assessing designated clinical competencies upon hire and annually.
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers and team members to deliver quality patient care.
  • Administering medications, performing nursing procedures, and providing patient education.
  • Conducting nursing visits and triage assessments.
  • Coordinating care and participating in urgent care and hospital transfers as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master's degree preferred.
  • Current RN license from the Massachusetts State Board of Registration.
  • BLS certification required.
  • A minimum of four years of professional nursing experience, preferably in a hospital or primary care setting.
  • At least three years of supervisory nursing experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and OneDrive.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated capacity to make independent decisions and manage staff effectively.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and reprioritize as necessary.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to OCHS sites.
