We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Anesthesia Nurse to join our team at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. As a key member of our radiation therapy team, you will be responsible for anesthetizing small animals for radiation treatments, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Anesthetize small animals for radiation treatments, including general anesthesia and sedation
- Work closely with the Radiation Therapy Team and Radiation Nurse Coordinator to ensure optimal patient care
- Assist with anesthetizing cases for CT and MRI when radiation cases are complete
- Collaborate with the Anesthesia Service to ensure quality patient care
- Consult with anesthesiologists regarding sedation protocols
- Assist with sedation in oncology during downtime
- Maintain all anesthesia equipment and controlled drug logs
- Participate in patient rounds with the Radiation Oncology Service
- Admit and discharge patients as needed
- Ensure the area is stocked and clean
- Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
- Minimum of 3 years current anesthesia experience
- Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) certification preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances
- Strong anesthesia knowledge base
