Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Anesthesia Nurse to join our team at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. As a key member of our radiation therapy team, you will be responsible for anesthetizing small animals for radiation treatments, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Anesthetize small animals for radiation treatments, including general anesthesia and sedation
  • Work closely with the Radiation Therapy Team and Radiation Nurse Coordinator to ensure optimal patient care
  • Assist with anesthetizing cases for CT and MRI when radiation cases are complete
  • Collaborate with the Anesthesia Service to ensure quality patient care
  • Consult with anesthesiologists regarding sedation protocols
  • Assist with sedation in oncology during downtime
  • Maintain all anesthesia equipment and controlled drug logs
  • Participate in patient rounds with the Radiation Oncology Service
  • Admit and discharge patients as needed
  • Ensure the area is stocked and clean
Requirements
  • Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
  • Minimum of 3 years current anesthesia experience
  • Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) certification preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Strong anesthesia knowledge base
