Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Renewable Development to join our team at Berkshire Hathaway Energy. This is a key role that will provide technical leadership and direction for the planning, design, and construction of renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply prescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases of projects and direct other engineering staff on more complex projects.
  • Oversee and guide staff in project development and design, resolution of complex engineering problems, design, engineering specifications, scheduling, project accounting (budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and cost control), materials procurement, and construction contracts.
  • Provide advanced engineering services for the estimating, planning, design, and construction of renewable energy projects, including system planning, design specifications, maps and drawings, materials procurement, contract preparation, project management, and project accounting.
  • Conduct advanced engineering studies and complex investigations, prepare oral and written reports of results and recommendations, and provide advanced engineering assistance to other departments.
  • Keep informed of industry issues/technical trends and recommend and implement changes to benefit BHER's business.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Fifteen years of industry experience as a practicing engineer with experience performing highly technical work of a specialist nature without a professional engineering license or 10 years of experience with a professional engineering license.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
