Job Summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled Development Chemist to join our Special Hazards/Agents New Product Introduction Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and testing next-generation fire suppression agents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research into new technologies and develop new technologies into commercial products
  • Interface with 3rd party approval agencies and assist with new product commercialization and production scale-up
  • Develop and test fire suppression agents, including handling flammable liquids and live fire tests
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
  • 6+ years' experience in a formulation lab environment, including experience leading complex, ambiguous development efforts
  • Strong laboratory fundamentals, including documentation and chemical hygiene/safety
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work as part of a cross-functional product development team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree
  • Experience with surfactant and/or polymer chemistry
  • Knowledge of firefighting foam test standards
  • Experience with stage-gate product development processes
