Position Overview: Water/Wastewater Project Superintendent
The Water/Wastewater Project Superintendent is vital in overseeing every aspect of assigned projects from inception to completion. This role involves thorough pre-planning for all project phases, ensuring that goals are met, and effectively managing field operations.
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 5-8 years of experience in water/wastewater construction
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and innovative thinking
- Proficient in computer applications
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement
- Current OSHA 30 certification
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or four-year degree in a construction-related discipline
- 5-8 years of relevant field experience
Travel and Office Requirements:
This position requires regular travel and a willingness to undertake out-of-town assignments that may last from weeks to months or longer.
Superintendent Responsibilities:
- Oversee all pre-construction activities, including crisis management, site logistics, and safety planning
- Supervise McGough field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers involved in projects
- Adjust project schedules as necessary
- Collaborate with the Project Management team throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure project-specific requirements align with budget and timeline
- Provide leadership in Lean methodologies, standard work, and safety protocols
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractors
Industrial Expertise Responsibilities:
- Supervise industrial installation activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications
- Review scopes of work and scheduling documents
- Oversee on-site execution of large-scale industrial projects
- Monitor project progress and conduct quality inspections
- Assist in change order evaluations and scope validation
Physical Requirements:
This role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions and may require lifting up to 50 lbs. Employees must be comfortable working at heights and may need to use protective equipment. The position entails a variety of physical movements, including climbing, kneeling, and crawling.
