Job Summary

The Lead Staff Therapist, Practicum Training Coordinator will provide strong generalist clinical skills and experience, participating in the delivery of therapeutic services to Purdue students. This role will contribute to clinical service delivery, including individual, couples, and group therapy, on-call services, triage, assessment, and substance use, abuse, and dependence services. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Clinical Training, the Lead Staff Therapist will lead and coordinate the Practicum training program, providing vision for its continuation and further development. This includes recruiting and hiring practicum students each academic year, providing individual clinical supervision to doctoral students, and organizing seminars and group supervision for practicum students. The Lead Staff Therapist will also review the status of programming with the Training Director, identifying priorities, plans, and continuous improvement opportunities. Additionally, they will continuously monitor the practicum program, managing policies, procedures, and documents related to practicum student training. The Lead Staff Therapist will develop and maintain relationships with doctoral training programs to recruit students and collaborate on their training. They will serve on various agency teams, as needed, including the Training Team. The Lead Staff Therapist will provide supervision to therapists in training and ongoing consultation to the larger staff, both formally and casually. They will attend pertinent staff and team meetings, participate in staff planning and coordination meetings, professional development activities, and in-service presentations.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

Required:
  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • A minimum of two years of general therapy experience.
  • Current license or immediate licensure eligibility, with the requirement to obtain a Health Service Provider in Psychology license in the state of Indiana within six months of start date.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision of doctoral students.
Preferred:
  • Current license or immediate licensure eligibility.
Skills:

Required:
  • Provision of group and individual therapy and clinical supervision.
  • Ability to develop and teach seminars related to the provision of these skills.
  • Strong general therapy skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and diagnose clients, make decisions about urgency of clients' problems, and design and implement appropriate treatment interventions.
  • Skills and interest in group therapy.
  • Confidentiality and adherence to ethical practices.
  • Independent judgment and discretion.
  • Values around social justice and interest in multicultural counseling.
  • Ability to relate well to students, medical and professional personnel, faculty, and other members of the University community.
  • Interest in group therapy, substance use, abuse, and dependence issues; AD/HD and Autism Spectrum disorders; Eating Disorders; Outreach and Consultation; International students, and/or working with underserved populations.
