Job Description

Job Summary:

The Clinical Director will oversee the clinical aspects of the program, ensuring the overall effectiveness of the treatment services. This role will direct the clinical component, facilitate the clinical/residential interface, and participate in program development and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with residential clinicians to discuss treatment planning and discharge planning.
  • Verify ancillary appointments and therapists' weekly reports.
  • Carry a cell phone for on-call coverage.
  • Ensure referrals are made to outside therapists and continuing levels of care.
  • Review and update recovery plans through written documentation.
  • Communicate client progress through record-keeping and verbal interaction.
  • Maintain professional rapport with referral sources and utilization review personnel.
  • Keep the facility office staff apprised of pertinent interactions with clients.
  • Attend all staffing, in-service trainings, and meetings as required.
  • Work in cooperation with administration, therapy staff, and ancillary staff members to establish consistent, therapeutic interventions.
  • Act as a representative of the facility to the community and educational institutions.
  • Monitor work performance for performance improvement and quality assurance issues.
  • Participate in performance improvement opportunities as requested.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and comply with DHCS standards.
  • Observe facility policy and procedure requirements.
  • Conform to the philosophy and ethics of the facility.
  • Demonstrate courteous and caring behavior toward all clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Facilitate weekly clinical supervision meetings with clinicians, resident advisors, and psychiatrists.
  • Obtain weekly QA reports and discuss concerns with clinicians.
  • Create ways to inspire the entire staff.
  • Coordinate with the VP for in-service trainings and staff development.
  • Coordinate with the VP and CEO to meet licensing requirements.
  • Intervene and assist as needed clinically with clients, therapists, and assigned teams.
  • Obtain admission profile sheets for each admission.
  • Assign clinicians to cases and provide admission profile sheets.

Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in Quality Improvement task groups as assigned.
  • Interface with assigned clients' insurance, managed care companies, and planning and concurrent review.
  • Ensure client records for assigned case loads are comprehensive, complete, neat, and meet licensing standards.
  • Provide a weekly referral and QA report to the supervisor.
  • Participate in alumni and referral source events pertinent to the facility.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree (college degree preferred).
  • Minimum of one (5) year training/experience in addiction preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to cooperate with team members and work in a collaborative team setting.
  • Communication skills sufficient to assess clients and interpret information in terms of chemical dependency.
  • Maintains current CPR and First Aid training.
  • Current TB Test or secured at time of hire.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
  • Valid unrestricted state driver's license.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work activities require long periods of standing and sitting.
  • Independent body mobility (stoop, bend, walk routinely to perform daily tasks).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Sufficient vision to read standard text.
  • Manual dexterity to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to write, record, and document information daily.

Stress:

Performs in a high-stress environment with psychiatric or chemically dependent clients.

Work activities are partially structured and require judgment in setting priorities.

Clinical decisions require judgment based upon commonly accepted principles of recovery.

Other decisions are guided by policies/procedures or guidelines and precedents established by similar situations.
