Job Summary:

The Collector, Specimen is responsible for providing coverage in the field to ensure accurate and timely collections. This role requires maintaining a safe and professional environment for clients and employees, performing specimen collection and processing duties, and adhering to established practices and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures using DOT guidelines.
  • Complete random and emergency observed urine collections of same-sex clients as needed.
  • Collect specimens for drug screenings and other Quest Diagnostics services.
  • Responsible for completing Chain of Custody (COC) forms and Alcohol Testing Forms accurately.
  • Label specimens as required and upload, fax, or mail COC and Alcohol Testing Forms within 24 hours to the appropriate location.
  • Package specimens for transport and ship to the lab indicated on work orders.
  • Maintain records of each specimen collected and support the Record Deletion process when directed by Management.
  • Provide customer service to clients and follow DOT Guidelines for Breath Alcohol and Urine collections.
  • Maintain all appropriate collection logs, accuracy logs, calibrations, DOT, and BAT certifications.
  • Correct collection errors within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Submit accurate time and travel logs as directed by management and on time.
  • Submit accurate expense forms, if applicable, when required.
  • Properly clock in and out for work assignments and provide travel logs when applicable.
  • Send monthly Accuracy Checks to the designated site location.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and adhere to departmental and company code of grooming, dress code, and lab coat policies.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record with access to dependable and insured transportation.
  • DOT Certification and any other necessary documentation pertaining to this position must be presented prior to a job offer.
  • Prefer Certified BAT/Urine Collector.
  • Ability to concentrate on the task at hand, knowledge of DOT guidelines, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
  • Access to a cell phone with texting and emailing capabilities and access to a computer with scanning, printing, and faxing capabilities.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
