Job Summary:

Atlanta Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and self-motivated Special Education Teacher to provide face-to-face instruction to students in a school building setting. The ideal candidate will be able to ensure student success through differentiated instruction and create a climate that promotes respect, tolerance, and peaceful problem-solving for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students with learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, and emotional behavioral disorders using effective teaching methods.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to cover material effectively.
  • Administer various assessments to monitor student comprehension.
  • Monitor students in the classroom and maintain order and discipline.
  • Perform administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades.
  • Coordinate parent-teacher conferences to review student performance and behavior.
  • Attend faculty meetings and training sessions.
  • Provide face-to-face instruction to students and be responsive to changing school and district instructional needs.

Requirements:

  • Certification: Special Education General Curriculum P-12 or eligibility for a Georgia Professional Standards Commission Provisional teaching certificate.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Experience: Zero (0) years of teaching experience required.

Compensation:

  • Salary Grade: T4 Bachelor - T7 Doctorate.
  • Salary Range: APS Teacher Salary Scale.
  • Work Year: 202 Days.

Reports to: School Principal.
