Job Summary:
Leidos is seeking a skilled Aerospace Systems Engineer to join our team as an Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Charlottesville, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.
- Document model performance against requirements.
- Document algorithm design.
- Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.
- Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
- Candidate must have 2+ years' experience.
- Experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models.
- Experience in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with system level requirements.
- Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process.
- Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of aerospace systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
- Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git.
- Experience in C++ or Python.
- An understanding of basic GNC algorithms.
- Experience simulating ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, and/or hypersonic vehicles.
