Crystal Creamery is seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor for our Modesto facility.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing a team of qualified mechanics dedicated to the upkeep (both preventative and corrective) of all production and associated machinery to ensure optimal performance. This position also entails managing the activities of external contractors when necessary. The Modesto facility is distinguished by its diverse production capabilities, including Fluid, Ice Cream, Butter, Powder, and Cultured Products. This role is vital to the success of our operations and is compensated accordingly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct, organize, and oversee daily operations of the union maintenance team during assigned shifts.
- Assess, train, and enhance the skills of the maintenance personnel.
- Encourage and guide the maintenance team in adhering to safe work practices, aiming for zero workplace injuries.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Maintenance department.
- Ensure effective utilization of all relevant software, including Corporate Asset Maintenance Management systems.
- Guarantee that maintenance work orders are completed to the highest standards of engineering, product safety, and environmental protection.
- Manage preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment efficiency.
- Employ predictive maintenance technologies to reduce downtime and plan for necessary maintenance.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality/Food Safety, and Project teams daily to address technical and operational challenges.
- Oversee Repair & Maintenance budgetary resources within the allocated annual budget.
- Ensure equipment availability and compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, etc.).
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a maintenance role within a food and beverage manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food processing equipment maintenance and technology.
- Ability to lead in food safety practices and familiarity with SQF standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Understanding of Ammonia Refrigeration systems and CAL/ARP RMP programs.
- Experience with HazMat and SPCC programs.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations management.
- Familiarity with Plant Automation/PLC systems.
- Excellent communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
- Basic understanding of financial analysis, budget reports, and relevant business drivers.
- Willingness to work any shift as required.
