Job Summary

The Medical Assistant Floater plays a vital role in our clinical team, providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment. This dynamic role involves rotating between centers to assist providers, maintain patient records, and prepare patients and rooms for examination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Pre-visit planning: Ensure a meaningful, high-quality experience for patients by preparing for their visit 48 hours in advance.
  • Vital signs entry: Enter patient vital signs into the record and alert the primary care provider to any abnormalities or comments that require attention.
  • Medication reconciliation: Perform medication reconciliation on the day of the patient visit, including over-the-counter medications and allergies.
  • Health Risk Assessments: Assist the primary care provider with the completion of Health Risk Assessments.
  • Patient room preparation: Ensure patient rooms are clean, organized, and equipped with necessary instruments for each visit.
  • Recommendation review: Review patient recommendations entered by the primary care provider and ensure patients understand instructions before leaving the office.
  • Appointment rescheduling: Review daily with the primary care provider to reschedule appointments for patients who did not attend.
  • Patient advocacy: Serve as an advocate to ensure patient compliance with preventive screenings and immunizations.
  • Confidentiality: Comply with HIPAA requirements for patient confidentiality.
  • Communication: Ensure all calls from patients and physicians are addressed daily by the primary care provider.
  • Patient experience: Ensure patients have an outstanding experience and their medical needs are met.
  • Attendance and hours: Comply with regular attendance and hours of operations policy.
  • Collaboration: Work with the primary care provider on high-risk patients and other patients requiring additional support.
  • Phlebotomy: Perform phlebotomy when assigned.
Experience and Required Skills
  • High Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active, unrestricted Medical Assistant Certification from the State of Florida preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Basic CPR or BLS certificate required.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a geriatric clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience in executing treatments within scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of computers, scanners, etc.
  • Ability to learn and practice office procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Proficiency in grammar, spelling, and verbal skills for written and oral communication.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
