Job Title: Director/AVP/VP Deposit and Specialty Banking


This role is based in our San Antonio office with work from home flexibility.

Summary:

The VP of Deposit and Specialty Banking is responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding a diverse portfolio of deposit customers. They are responsible for originating new relationships with internal or self-led referrals and maintaining existing relationships with stellar customer-service-oriented performance, professionalism, and trustworthiness required to maintain bank image.

  • Execute comprehensive deposit strategies aligned with the bank's overall goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for portfolio expansion, diversification, and innovation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and acquire new high-net-worth clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key influencers and referral sources.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high-net worth clients
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their financial needs and objectives.
  • Ability to understand the complexities of a high net worth client, their objectives, and collaborating with others to address their objectives in the best interests of the bank.
  • Consistently participate in deposit development activities with small to mid-sized business customers.
  • Evaluate opportunities with effective and thorough relationship development, information gathering, and analysis of customer businesses; obtains all critical information to be used in decision making.
  • Timely, accurate, and high-quality preparation of depositor presentations following established guidelines and internal policies. Able to confidently present deposit proposals to the committee and customer, and answer questions promptly and accurately.
  • Analyze bank statements received on loan or deposit customers. Work with others regarding analyses and spreads on individual, partnership, and corporate customers, current or potential, to develop a deposit relationship.
  • Conduct deposit account opening process, follow up and ongoing connections professionally and accurately. Ensure documentation is complete and all policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Manage deposit risks by implementing effective risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor the performance of the deposit and DaaB portfolio, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze trends in the deposit market, economic conditions, and industry developments to make informed decisions.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients, borrowers, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and tailor lending solutions accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams to streamline processes and enhance client experiences.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the deposit and DaaB team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the deposit/DaaB division.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between teams.
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, including business owners, and other key influencers.
  • Identify co-deposit and co-investment opportunities to enhance the bank's deposit capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant deposit regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to navigate regulatory changes and maintain a strong compliance culture.
  • Completely understand required regulations and relevance to the deposit portfolio; explain regulations to customers with clarity and professionalism.
  • Conduct consistent effective on-site with existing customers to cross sell products to maximize wallet share within applicable laws, regulations and bank policies.
  • Effectively service existing deposit relationships to maintain portfolio integrity and quality. Promptly address any adverse deposit situations with professionalism and tact and in the best interests of the bank. Ensure management is aware of potential risks as they arise.
  • Promptly and accurately provide required information for deposit relationships considered at-risk and take appropriate steps to protect bank's position. Work with the Chief Banking Officer and DaaB team to implement strategies for work out of any potential risks where appropriate.
  • Work effectively with deposit/DaaB staff and across departments regarding timely and accurate account opening preparation and ongoing monitoring, including customer contact and overall productivity.
  • Work to meet production and quality goals.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a manner consistent with our values and operating principles, in accordance with policy and applicable laws, and with a commitment to commitment to continuous improvement and process excellence.
