Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote breastfeeding and support mothers in achieving their breastfeeding goals.
  • Implement care standards and guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers.
  • Manage educational materials to enhance patient understanding.
  • Evaluate the emotional, cognitive, social, and motivational status of patients and families to tailor educational needs.
  • Adjust teaching plans based on individual patient and family requirements.
  • Document patient and family education progress in compliance with practice standards.
  • Assess breastfeeding-related equipment and maintain clinical spaces.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding patient conditions and document relevant events.
  • Assist clinical staff and providers as directed by management.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Lactation Consultant
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in the physiology and clinical management of breastfeeding
  • Ability to provide information considering various mental, emotional, cultural, social, and physical factors
  • Capability to recognize adverse signs and respond appropriately in emergencies
  • Familiarity with pediatric telephone screening and documentation protocols
  • Strong organizational skills and teamwork abilities
  • Proficient in computer applications
  • Effective communication skills in speaking, reading, and writing
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Flexible scheduling availability is required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Active South Carolina or Multi-state Compact license in good standing
  • Previous experience in a medical practice
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records
