Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse – Critical Care plays a vital role as a proactive member of a multidisciplinary team comprising both licensed and unlicensed caregivers. This team is dedicated to delivering personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care to patients, families, and significant others. The clinical environment is managed by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, alongside evidence-based practices and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and reinforced by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses – Critical Care are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practice standards as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and the Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association. As integral members of the patient services team, individuals are expected to uphold the voice of the patient while adhering to system policies and procedures and supporting service excellence goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes (55%)
  • Execute the Nursing Process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Deliver relationship-based, patient-centered care that is tailored to specific population characteristics, demonstrating an understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Engage with patients and significant others in a collaborative manner, ensuring they are informed and that their goals are central to the care plan.
  • Maintain current clinical practice standards.

2. Teamwork and Collaboration (25%)
  • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through effective interdisciplinary communication.
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive clinical environment through timely documentation and collaboration.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives involving all stakeholders, supporting research and evidence-based practices.

3. Professional Development and Initiative (10%)
  • Complete all mandatory education and competency assessments, ensuring ongoing professional development.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing professionals, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

4. Evidence-Based Practice and Research (5%)
  • Promote evidence-based practices and engage in nursing research to enhance patient care quality.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in data collection and consult with experts to address clinical practice questions.

5. Resources and Support (5%)
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while delivering direct patient services.
  • Collaborate in developing protocols and procedures to achieve optimal practice outcomes.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

General Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Required minimum education and field of study details.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care experience required.
Skills: Proficiency in English, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, ability to function in a fast-paced environment, and excellent time management skills.
Licenses/Certifications: Required nursing licenses and certifications upon hire.
