Position Overview:
Delivers direct nursing care in alignment with established protocols and policies of the healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implements medical-surgical nursing standards to enhance patient care quality and life.
- Builds effective relationships and advocates for patients and families to create tailored care plans.
- Employs the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Develops management strategies considering various dimensions of health responses.
- Demonstrates understanding of the effects of illness on patients' diverse statuses.
- Exhibits leadership by collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams to assess needs and evaluate outcomes.
- Engages in effective communication for collaborative decision-making that is culturally sensitive and ethical.
- Educates patients and families on health promotion and restoration measures.
- Promotes a healthy work environment by mentoring nursing colleagues and students.
- Applies evidence-based practices to ensure age-specific and clinical needs are met.
- Maintains a constant state of alertness and safety.
- May conduct point-of-care testing as per established protocols.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent education for licensing.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of registered nursing experience (Ministry Float) or two years (Regional Float).
Physical Demands:
- Regular use of speech for communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
- Frequent visual and auditory tasks for patient monitoring.
- Occasional lifting of patients and objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional driving and other physical activities.
