Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead our team in the design and development of complex opto-mechanical systems for high-energy laser and multi-spectral imaging applications. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, experience in project leadership, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality products on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in the design and development of opto-mechanical systems, including conceptualization, design, analysis, testing, and validation.
  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers in the development of complex systems, including high-energy lasers, multi-spectral imaging sensors, and autonomous/robotic systems.
  • Manage the development lifecycle of Adsys Controls product lines, including requirements generation, flowdown, and validation.
  • Implement principles of mechanical and systems engineering, including design standards, risk assessments, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical and systems designs meet all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university with 10+ years relevant experience. MS/PhD is a plus.
  • Experience as a project lead with responsibility over technical direction, project planning, and project execution for a small team.
  • Experience on DoD programs and related processes and requirements.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-810 or DO-160 requirements and associated testing.
  • Experience with various materials (metal alloys, glass, and plastics) and the related manufacturing processes for material selection to meet program requirements.
  • Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python for data reduction and analysis.
  • Experience with structural analysis tools including ANSYS, NASTRAN, and/or FEMAP.
  • Experience with complex (multi-element) optics and opto-mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in working both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Be comfortable in a dynamic environment.
