Position Overview:

The Purchasing Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of food products, seafood, and non-food items. This includes sourcing, negotiating prices, managing transportation logistics, and developing new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the purchasing process for various products, ensuring competitive pricing and quality
  • Analyze market trends and forecast sales volumes to create effective purchase orders
  • Calculate costs and pricing to ensure profitable margins
  • Maintain product quality through sampling and supplier collaboration
  • Regularly review inventory levels to identify discrepancies and address slow-moving or expired items
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business goals
  • Ensure received products meet quality standards as per purchase agreements
  • Provide administrative support to comply with FDA and USDA safety regulations
  • Participate in company events and functions as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office environment for extended periods
  • Proficient in computer use and typing
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Business-level proficiency in English is required
  • Fluency in Japanese, Chinese, or Korean (reading, writing, speaking, listening) is necessary
  • Positive attitude and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Adaptability to changing assignments and workloads
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Preferred: 3+ years of purchasing experience and 2+ years of tenure within a company
