The Diesel Mechanic - Heavy Equipment Specialist is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of heavy equipment at transfer stations and material-recovery facilities. Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and repair complex heavy equipment issues, including diesel motors and hydraulic systems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment, to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement process improvements, enhancing overall efficiency and safety.
- Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and company policies.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to attendance, punctuality, and adaptability.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Driver's License/CDL B (a plus)
- Must supply own tools
- ASE Certification
- Tow Motor and Air Brake Certification (a plus)
- Demonstrated mechanical skills and experience in a transport environment
- Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn
This role requires the ability to:
- Use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday.
- Exert physical effort in handling objects of less than 40 pounds.
- Stand for up to 12 hours and perform tasks that require bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Work in all weather conditions.
