Job Summary

Columbus Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electronic systems for small unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAVs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electronic systems for UAVs, including circuit design, FPGA technology, and power distribution.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to conduct and lead general engineering and design activities.
  • Work with avionics, embedded systems, and Radio Frequency (RF) links to support Flight Test operations.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems and document designs with engineering drawings and written descriptions.
  • Perform design and analysis tasks under general supervision and contribute to the development of company objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience with R&D projects, preferably in aerospace.
  • Expert-level experience in circuit design, FPGA design, and power distribution.
  • Advanced knowledge of common industry protocols, including LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB, and MIPI.
  • Knowledge of Battery Management Systems and Battery Charging Systems.
  • Familiarity with PCB design process and experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Flight test or R/C experience, hands-on experience with tools, and familiarity with Small UAV subsystems and associated software.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
