Position Overview
The Event Services Supervisor for Culinary Operations plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily functions of the culinary team, collaborating closely with the Catering & Sales Manager and the Assistant Culinary Operations Manager. This position is integral to ensuring the seamless execution of events and maintaining high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Articulate and embody the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf to foster the achievement of organizational objectives.
- Uphold exceptional standards of food service and quality, ensuring they consistently meet or surpass guest and employee expectations.
- Work alongside the Assistant Culinary Operations Manager to convene staff meetings aimed at cultivating a shared vision, addressing current needs, and strategizing for upcoming culinary events.
- Supervise culinary staff in alignment with company policies and procedures; serve as a mentor to train and develop team members within the culinary department.
- Assist in the recruitment process as needed.
- Facilitate effective communication among team members regarding event operations, safety protocols, and employee concerns. Lead by example to inspire and motivate the team.
- Recognize and celebrate team achievements while fostering a positive work environment.
- Participate in events and manage culinary staff; provide assistance to Culinary Operations managers.
- Contribute to monthly inventory assessments, as applicable.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One to three years of relevant experience preferred.
- Must meet state and federal minimum age requirements for serving alcohol.
- Current Food Handlers Card and TIPS Certification (Training for Intervention Procedures) are required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Ability to comprehend and implement dining standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a capacity to address the needs of staff and guests effectively.
- Consistently achieve high work standards, with a focus on detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple details in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
- Flexible schedule required, including evenings and weekends, with potential for minimal travel.
- A valid driver's license is necessary.
Work Environment
This role typically operates in an indoor dining setting, but may also require outdoor work for events, exposing the employee to varying weather conditions and occasional wildlife. The noise level can be high, and outdoor settings may involve navigating diverse terrains while managing event logistics.
Physical Demands
The physical requirements of this position include regular sight, speech, and hearing capabilities. The role is active, necessitating standing and walking for extended periods. Employees must be able to lift, balance, and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds, as well as perform tasks that require bending, reaching, and serving from trays. Frequent hand washing is mandatory. Employees must be able to read menus, take orders, review bills, and navigate busy environments while communicating clearly with others.
