Job Overview:

In the role of Senior Category Manager for Procurement, you will be instrumental in refining our procurement operations. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and executing procurement strategies across various assigned categories, which may include highly specialized and competitive sectors. You will cultivate and strengthen vital relationships with senior-level business partners, both internal and external, engage in intricate vendor negotiations, and ensure the effective administration and execution of high-value contracts. Your expertise will facilitate informed decision-making, enhance supplier relationships, and foster innovation within the procurement domain.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Development:

Coaching and Mentoring: Guide peers and junior team members by focusing on their strengths and developmental areas, sharing insights and experiences to foster growth. Servant Leadership: Act as a horizontal leader within the department and organization, collaborating cross-functionally to achieve optimal outcomes and being a trusted advisor on various topics. Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of ongoing enhancement within the procurement function by soliciting feedback from internal stakeholders and implementing best practices to boost efficiency and effectiveness.

Procurement Strategy and Category Management:

Strategic Planning: Formulate long-term plans, establish strategic directions, and execute comprehensive procurement strategies that align with the organization's objectives and financial goals. Contract Oversight: Provide consultation on statements of work, negotiate pricing, services, and contract terms, collaborating with Legal and other experts to ensure contract accuracy and resolve any escalated issues. Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to uncover cost-saving opportunities, create requests for proposals, evaluate and select suppliers, and negotiate advantageous terms. Cost Efficiency: Continuously review procurement processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, implementing innovative solutions that drive savings without sacrificing quality.

Building Strategic Relationships:

Trusted Advisor: Establish yourself as a key contributor in strategic discussions, actively listening and understanding needs while presenting proactive ideas. Collaboration: Forge strong relationships and collaborate across functions with stakeholders from various departments (e.g., finance, operations, and legal) to align strategies with organizational goals. Influence: Guide leaders on supplier utilization to meet operational and strategic objectives, engaging internal stakeholders and suppliers to enhance value and performance. Supplier Management: Develop and maintain robust relationships with suppliers and partners, negotiating contracts to secure favorable pricing, quality, and service levels.

Managing Procurement Processes:

Performance Measurement: Create and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of procurement strategies, regularly analyzing performance data and adjusting approaches as necessary. Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, legal and industry regulations, and ethical standards throughout all procurement activities, maintaining transparency and integrity. Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier performance, market fluctuations, and regulatory compliance to ensure supply continuity and minimize disruptions.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certification is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of proven experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or related roles, with a successful track record of implementing effective procurement strategies and achieving cost savings. Experience with multiple complex Indirect Procurement categories and a background in Financial or Professional Services is preferred.
