As a CDI Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient medical records, facilitating the assignment of appropriate MS-DRG codes, and improving the quality of physician documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough reviews of patient medical records to identify areas for improvement in documentation and coding.
- Develop and implement effective strategies to educate healthcare providers on documentation guidelines and best practices.
- Collaborate with case managers, nursing staff, and other ancillary staff to resolve physician queries and ensure accurate documentation.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest coding guidelines, regulations, and industry developments to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of patient care and documentation.
- Graduate degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical documentation improvement, medical records review, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT, and MS-DRG coding systems.
