BJ's Wholesale Club Produce Clerk Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Clerk to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As a Produce Clerk, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our members receive the freshest and highest-quality produce possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sort, display, and rotate fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department to ensure optimal freshness and variety.
  • Inspect and store produce upon delivery to ensure that all received produce meets or exceeds company produce standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to members by answering questions, recommending products, and assisting with finding products throughout the club.
  • Maintain a clean and organized produce department, including the produce reserve stock area, to ensure a safe and positive environment for members and team members.
  • Assist with inventory and order processing as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Work experience in a produce department preferred.
  • Knowledge of fruit and vegetables, including seasonal items, preferred.

Working Conditions:

The Produce Clerk will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers. The position requires frequent moving about, bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping. The Produce Clerk may be required to lift objects up to 30 pounds and may need assistance with heavier objects.

Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is $16.25 per hour. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, education, experience, and qualifications.
