Key Responsibilities- Assist senior HVAC technicians in performing routine maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance contracts to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC issues, including electrical and mechanical systems.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters and belts, and identify potential issues with HVAC equipment.
- Log and document HVAC equipment performance, including refrigerant circuit, electrical circuit, and equipment condition.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including DX equipment, intake/exhaust fans, split systems, heat pumps, and water source heat pumps.
- Communicate effectively with team leads, coordination staff, sales staff, and customers to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Complete equipment log sheets and upload them into our database for project managers.
- Meet or exceed performance metrics, including minimal call-backs and timely completion of tasks.
- Respond promptly to supervisor and dispatcher requests.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all work performed.
- Adhere to basic safe work practices and company policies.
- Universal EPA certification
- Ability to understand mechanical drawings and equipment specifications
- Expert ability to troubleshoot complex high and low-voltage electrical systems and read wiring schematics
- Thorough understanding of various equipment, including large unitary packaged equipment, SWUD units, VRF, basic air-cooled chillers, semi-hermetic compressors, dehumidification equipment, complex specialty equipment, air handlers, simple boilers, cooling towers, water pumps, valves, actuators, and VFDs
- Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all components of the above equipment
- Complete understanding of sequence of operation and control strategies for the above equipment
- Thorough understanding of airflow for variable air volume systems, including duct design and control strategy
- Understanding of DDC control components and pneumatic systems
- Demonstrated experience in understanding basic refrigerant cycle, various heating components, and air distribution systems
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues to customers in laymen's terms
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Must pass a background check
- Occasional sitting, frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing; constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping; vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; must be able to talk and hear; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and constant lifting to 25 lbs.
