We are seeking a Project Supervisor with substantial underground and yard piping experience to oversee a significant water infrastructure initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the project manager to ensure the effective implementation of PCL's safety protocols, integrating these into all site plans and procedures while adhering to safety and documentation standards.
  • Lead, guide, mentor, and train the project team, including both direct and indirect reports.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring that performance, productivity, quality, and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Work closely with the construction/project manager and project team to proactively address potential issues, work interferences, and scheduling conflicts.
  • Act as a liaison between field engineers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
  • Engage with clients, other contractors, labor relations, and site representatives to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Visualize the entire project scope, develop comprehensive project schedules, identify critical paths, and foresee potential constructability challenges.
  • Formulate and execute the Project Execution Plan (PEP) along with resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
  • Create, manage, and implement the project plan and schedule, ensuring adherence to budgetary and quality standards.
  • Review and comprehend contract terms and subcontracts, devising strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities to meet financial objectives.
  • Maintain project correspondence and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Foster strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders involved.

Qualifications:

  • A journeyman certificate or a degree in a relevant field is required. NCSO designation is mandatory (IND); enrollment in the Gold Seal program (CDN) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive field supervision experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience in supervising a construction workforce.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry, including materials, specifications, and methodologies.
  • Ability to understand project scope and apply intermediate to complex engineering principles in construction plans and schedules.
  • Proficient in using scheduling software to create logical project plans.
  • Capability to coordinate multiple aspects of a construction project, including scheduling and monitoring work from both internal teams and trade contractors.
  • Strong understanding of productivity metrics and the ability to interpret cost reports.
  • Familiarity with contract language, enabling the identification and mitigation of risks while leveraging opportunities.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and practices.
  • Competence in leading effective site meetings with clients, consultants, and internal teams; ability to present at client meetings.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and professional judgment.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internal operational systems.
