Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician - Surgery to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide primary support to our specialists, ensuring the best quality of care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to specialists with incoming consultations and procedures, including pre-operative testing, anesthesia, and surgical preparation.
- Assist with the daily OR schedule, ensuring timely and efficient management of surgical cases.
- Prepare patients for induction, pre-medicate, and set up induction stations and ORs.
- Monitor patients under anesthesia, identifying normal vs abnormal vitals and communicating concerns to the anesthetist.
- Document vitals, record problems and interventions, and complete post-operative diagnostics.
- Assist with restraint, handling, and medication refills, as well as provide basic client education on post-operative care and hospital recommendations.
- Re-stock and maintain cleanliness of specialty department areas, exam rooms, and other hospital areas.
- Train less experienced staff members on policies, procedures, technical skills, and medical information.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Certified Veterinary Technician - Surgery.
- Ability to perform all key responsibilities of a Technician Assistant.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, acceptable sanitation/sterilization practices, and commonly used medical terminology and equipment.
- Ability to calculate accurate dosages and injections, as well as familiarity with CPR and rescue breathing.
- Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to work with and without direct supervision.
- Capability to kneel, bend, and lift various sizes of animals onto treatment tables, without assistance at times (50 lbs).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's and/or Technician Certification preferred.
