Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Administrative Nurse II and Management Services Officers, we seek a skilled Instrument Technician to join our Sterile Processing team. This role involves processing surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting, assembling and sterilizing instrument trays, and operating steam and H2O2 sterilizers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting
- Assemble and sterilize instrument trays
- Operate steam and H2O2 sterilizers, sonic equipment, washers, heat sealers, and fax/copy machine
- Store, date, and rotate supplies according to TJC and CMS guidelines
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile fields, and Operating Room decontamination
- Demonstrated skills in proper maintenance and cleaning of instrumentation
- Correct use of various decontamination equipment and instrument/tray sterilizers
- Working knowledge of bacteriology and medical terminology
- Oral and written skills to collect and relay information accurately
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all staff
- Skill in performing calmly during emergent and/or stressful situations
- Skill in working as part of a team
- Ability to lift surgical trays weighing up to 25 lbs and handle surgical case carts weighing 200 lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Certification CRCST/CST preferred
