Job Summary:

Under the guidance of the Administrative Nurse II and Management Services Officers, we seek a skilled Instrument Technician to join our Sterile Processing team. This role involves processing surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting, assembling and sterilizing instrument trays, and operating steam and H2O2 sterilizers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting
  • Assemble and sterilize instrument trays
  • Operate steam and H2O2 sterilizers, sonic equipment, washers, heat sealers, and fax/copy machine
  • Store, date, and rotate supplies according to TJC and CMS guidelines

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile fields, and Operating Room decontamination
  • Demonstrated skills in proper maintenance and cleaning of instrumentation
  • Correct use of various decontamination equipment and instrument/tray sterilizers
  • Working knowledge of bacteriology and medical terminology
  • Oral and written skills to collect and relay information accurately
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all staff
  • Skill in performing calmly during emergent and/or stressful situations
  • Skill in working as part of a team
  • Ability to lift surgical trays weighing up to 25 lbs and handle surgical case carts weighing 200 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Certification CRCST/CST preferred
