Job Title: Senior Interconnection Manager

Apex Clean Energy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Interconnection Manager to join its Transmission Department. This role will lead, manage, and supervise a subset of Apex queue projects across multiple ISOs, ensuring timely completion and successful interconnection of utility-scale renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage a portfolio of utility-scale projects across multiple ISOs, including ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SPP, and NYISO.
  • Execute grid integration tasks to support portfolio and project-level targets, navigating complex interconnection rules and procedures.
  • Submit new queue projects, review and translate interconnection study results, and effectively manage engineering consultants.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and problem-solving skills.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on interconnection, providing strategic guidance and direction on interconnection finances and project contracts.
  • Represent Apex projects and interconnection expertise in front of institutional investors, banks, and prospective equity partners or buyers.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in resource integration, with at least 3 years managing utility-scale renewable portfolios.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, policy, project management, or a related field. Master's/PhD with a focus on power systems is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing projects, negotiating contracts, and addressing challenges from early interconnection through financial close and commercial operation.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex engineering and policy concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
