Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic MRI scans, assisting radiologists and referring physicians in MRI procedures, and ensuring the best standards of quality patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of MRI technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI cross-sectional imaging and other related procedures as directed by a licensed physician.
  • Operate and monitor MRI equipment, program the machine to the proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time as dictated by the physician.
  • Explain testing procedures to patients, position and instruct patients on preparation for the MRI test, and monitor patients' conditions before and after the scan to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Administer contrast media accurately under the direction of the radiologist, both manually and with a pressure injector.
  • Enforce magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operators, and visitors.
  • Maintain patient logs, equipment service manuals, delivery schedules, and related statistics.
  • Deliver quality patient care and services in accordance with regulated standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of all contrast media used in MRI, including dosage, precautions, adverse reactions, and examination appropriateness.
  • Problem-solving skills to effectively handle radiographic MRI technical occurrences.
  • A thorough knowledge of 3D anatomy and imaging planes as required by the radiologist.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of experience as a MRI Tech.
  • Completion of an AMA-approved two-year Radiology program with an AS degree in radiology.
  • State license required, preferred.
  • CT experience preferred, not required.
  • Graduates from a four-year program with a BS RT preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate.
  • Ability to function efficiently and pleasantly under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills with different types of people.
  • Working knowledge of computers, keyboarding, and various programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
