Africana Studies Professor

Wilkes University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Coordinator of the Africana Studies minor. This is an exciting opportunity for a scholar to join our faculty and contribute to the growth and development of our program.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate the Africana Studies minor program, including developing curriculum, assessing student learning, and promoting the program to students and faculty.
- Teach courses that serve the minor, including Introduction to Africana Studies, and contribute to other courses that align with the program's goals.
- Engage in outreach and recruitment efforts to attract students to the program.
- Advise and mentor students in the program, providing guidance on academic and career goals.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop extracurricular and co-curricular programs that support the Africana Studies minor.
- Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, with expertise in Africana Studies or a related field.
- Ability to teach required courses for the minor and contribute to other courses that align with the program's goals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
