Responsibilities- Conduct Comprehensive Assessments: Review medical histories, collaborate with healthcare colleagues, and understand patient needs to develop effective treatment plans.
- Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Establish specific goals for rehabilitation or recovery, and design customized exercise programs to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination.
- Provide Hands-On Care: Use joint mobilization, soft tissue manipulation, and manual stretching techniques to enhance mobility and relieve pain.
- Apply Modalities: Utilize ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, and cold therapy to ease pain, reduce inflammation, and aid tissue healing.
- Guide Patients: Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and injury prevention related to body mechanics and ergonomics.
- Develop Pain Management Strategies: Implement therapeutic exercises, modalities, and manual techniques to reduce pain and improve patient outcomes.
- Enhance Patient Independence: Assist patients in regaining independence after surgery, injury, or illness to enhance their quality of life.
- Document Patient Progress: Continuously assess and document patient progress toward rehabilitation goals, adapting treatment plans as needed.
- Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and OTs, to optimize patient care.
- Provide Ongoing Support: Develop personalized home exercise programs to support ongoing recovery and maintain accurate patient records.
- Adhere to Ethical and Legal Standards: Respect patient confidentiality, obtain informed consent, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and responsiveness.
- Valid Physical Therapy State License: Must be a licensed Physical Therapist in good standing.
- CPR and BLS Certification: Must hold current CPR and BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross (with AED).
