Position Overview: The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing physician productivity and enriching the patient experience. This position serves as the primary liaison for patients, addressing both clinical and administrative inquiries, while also managing the physician's schedule across various settings, including outpatient and surgical environments. Responsibilities include handling phone communications, returning messages, and organizing follow-up tests and referrals for patients. It is essential to maintain a respectful, private, and compassionate demeanor towards patients, particularly during challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the main point of contact for patients, facilitating communication with healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate and optimize the physician's schedule, ensuring efficient use of time in both clinical and surgical settings.
  • Manage incoming calls and messages, providing timely responses to patient inquiries.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, tests, and referrals as necessary.
  • Foster a collaborative relationship with physicians to enhance patient care.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; proficiency in medical terminology is required.

Certifications/Licenses: Not applicable.

Skills:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly within a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong keyboarding skills and familiarity with general office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three years in a related healthcare role is required.

Supervision:

Reports to: Clinic Manager

Work Environment:

Standard office setting with frequent patient interaction and exposure to video display terminals.

Physical Requirements: This role may involve prolonged periods of sitting and requires adherence to ergonomic principles while using a keyboard. Flexibility in work schedule is necessary.
