Pharmacy Technician Sterile Compounding Specialist

As a Pharmacy Technician Sterile Compounding Specialist at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in assisting pharmacists in preparing sterile compounded IV, irrigation, and chemotherapy solutions. This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to patient safety.
Responsibilities- Compounds, packages, and labels drugs, maintaining accurate records and utilizing a computer system to run labels.
- Consults with pharmacists and monitors for duplicate or conflicting entries, ensuring compliance with sterile compounding regulations, standards, and policies.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and sterile work area, performing and documenting daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning practices and environmental testing.
- Handles controlled substances in a manner that ensures accountability and security, following all procedures for documenting and dispensing.
- Assures medications are available for patients by assisting in inventory control, including ordering, checking in orders, stocking shelves, updating the inventory system, rotating stock, and processing recalls.
- Conducts periodic inspections of sterile compounding components stored in the pharmacy, quarantining outdated and unusable components.
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician certification in the state of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.
