SUMMARY
Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking to fill the position of Counter Sales Associate. In this role, you will be tasked with delivering outstanding customer service, addressing customer inquiries, and efficiently processing orders at our sales counter. This position is well-suited for individuals who excel in a dynamic environment, have strong organizational capabilities, and are eager to learn. The ideal candidate will assist with order fulfillment, maintain precise inventory records, and foster a positive and collaborative workplace. Previous experience is not mandatory; we are looking for motivated individuals with a customer-focused attitude and a readiness to be trained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Process Point Of Sale (POS) transactions
• Handle Total Warehouse Logistics (TWL) transactions
• Ensure exceptional service and care is provided to every customer
• Retrieve and prepare customer orders promptly and accurately
• Package and organize orders in a designated area for customer collection
• Answer phone calls in a timely and professional manner
• Complete daily tasks as directed by the management team
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
- Must be 17 years or older
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Familiarity with products offered
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic
• Understanding of Units of Measure (UOMs), Shipping, and Transfer Units
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks independently
Preferred
• Experience in the construction or mechanical trades
• Basic knowledge of sales principles and customer service practices
• Proven experience as a Retail Sales Associate, Sales Representative, or similar role
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be capable of standing, walking, and working on hard surfaces for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly and safely.
• Frequent bending, reaching overhead, kneeling, and squatting.
• Regularly pulling and stocking inventory items using carts or material handling equipment.
• Climbing ladders and stairs while carrying items.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Work is conducted in an indoor retail setting
- Exposure to computer screens and the use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system
- Ability to properly operate general warehouse material handling equipment
- Adhere to all safety protocols and utilize safety gear appropriately
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with safety standards
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No supervisory responsibilities

As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable references and background checks. Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
