Operations Supervisor Job Description

Penske Logistics is seeking a skilled Operations Supervisor to lead our warehousing operations and drive process improvement. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing direction to staff, ensuring customer requirements are met, and achieving our company goals and objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • People: Establish and sustain a trained and competent workforce, communicate performance standards, and provide coaching and counseling to associates.
  • Operations: Supervise logistics operations, conduct team meetings, evaluate and recommend changes in work methods, and provide relief coverage for operational duties.
  • Finance: Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, understand the relationship between decision-making and profitability, and manage associates' working hours and activities.
  • Safety: Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities align with the location safety strategy, provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance.
  • Growth/Customer Experience: Understand customer goals and objectives, ensure the customer knows we are committed to helping them meet their objectives, and determine areas that could benefit from Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Fleet/Assets: Properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of warehouse equipment, work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipment, and work with vendors to ensure equipment is maintained.

Qualifications: 2-4 years related functional experience, high school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred, strong written/oral communication skills, and advanced computer skills.

Physical Requirements: The associate will be required to read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, remember and analyze certain information, and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines. While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to stand, walk, and sit. The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs/12kg.
