Position Overview

This executive role is integral to a premier international team focused on Risk Advisory & Assurance Services, dedicated to enhancing operational effectiveness throughout the organization. The position provides independent, risk-based assurance, strategic advice, and valuable insights to the Board of Directors and Senior Management.

Key responsibilities include managing all operational activities related to maritime Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HESS) disciplines. This encompasses ensuring adherence to safety management protocols and identifying opportunities for best practices within the HESS framework.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Audit and Advisory Leadership:
    • Direct a team of 29 internal auditors across multiple brands.
    • Formulate the annual HESS audit strategy.
    • Supervise internal ISM audits, facilitating root cause analyses and developing management action plans.
    • Conduct assessments of newbuild ships' ISM compliance prior to delivery.
    • Manage HESS audits of port operations and training facilities.
    • Review processes, systems, and organizational designs to extract best practice insights.
  • Monitoring and Assessment:
    • Evaluate management's progress on implementing agreed-upon improvements quarterly.
    • Oversee action plans stemming from SMS audits and HESS investigations.
  • Training and Development:
    • Lead staff training initiatives and maintain a global quality control program.
  • Reporting:
    • Provide regular updates to the Chief Audit Officer on audit activities, project plans, and trends.
    • Report to the Board on the annual audit strategy and management action plan implementation.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Foster strong partnerships with Senior Executive brand HESS Management, the Chief Maritime Officer, and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a Maritime-related discipline; advanced degrees or relevant maritime licenses are preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the maritime sector.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $240,000, with offers made based on relevant skills and experience.
