Job Summary:
The Assistant General Counsel – Hospital Operations will provide daily counsel on a range of operational issues to key leadership at both the corporate and local levels across the health system. This attorney will prepare a wide variety of corporate agreements, including physician agreements, joint ventures, leases, vendor contracts, supply chain contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and affiliation agreements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily counsel on operational issues to key leadership at both the corporate and local levels across the health system.
- Prepare a wide variety of corporate agreements, including physician agreements, joint ventures, leases, vendor contracts, supply chain contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and affiliation agreements.
- Manage, supervise, and coordinate outside counsel in their assigned areas, direct strategy, and contain costs.
- Have experience with relevant state laws affecting referral and financial relationships between healthcare providers.
- Be practical and solution-oriented, able to work with business units to solve legal challenges.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
- Unrestricted licensed to practice law and member in Good Standing of at least one state bar.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of hospital business operations and considerations.
- Experience with healthcare regulatory compliance matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of prior legal experience in law firm, public sector, and/or in-house position.
- At least 2-3 years of healthcare transactional or regulatory experience.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience/expertise in providing legal counsel for matters involving federal laws and regulations governing the provision of and payment for healthcare services.
- Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills; able to effectively interact with all internal and external business partners.
