Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Instrument Technician to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and monitoring hemodialysis equipment, preparing dialysis machines, and performing various technical tasks to ensure the safe and effective treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and perform calibrations on hemodialysis equipment
  • Perform and interpret test results, including dialysate chemistries and water treatment testing
  • Assist physicians with percutaneous renal biopsies and peritoneal catheter insertion
  • Provide instruction to dialysis patients on home/self-care and equipment maintenance
  • Participate in training and education programs to improve patient safety and outcomes
Requirements
  • United States citizenship
  • English language proficiency
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hemodialysis technician experience
  • Certification in dialysis
  • Knowledge of American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AMMI) standards
